New to Poshmark? Here's some tips and tricks to get you started.

If you're thinking about selling clothing, shoes, and accessories on Poshmark there are some things that are helpful to know when you get started.  Poshmark has made over $1 Billion selling new and used items since it's inception and if you're willing to put in some effort, it's a great way to earn some extra money and get in on the action.  Here are some tips to help get you started.

Analysis Paralysis

Many people spend a lot of time worrying about all the minute details such as how they're going to get paid, what if someone tries to rip me off, is it safe to to connect Poshmark to my bank account, and on and on.  Lots of people are doing it, it's relatively safe to do if you follow the same common sense actions you would with any other online transaction.  The quicker you get started, the faster your bank account grows.  Stop procrastinating.

If it were easy, everyone would be Poshmarking

Seriously, if you're looking for a way that you can put in very little effort and watch the money roll in every day this isn't it.  It takes some real effort, but that effort pays off.  You have to get product to sell, take photos, come up with descriptions, set pricing, manage your closet, answer questions, negotiate prices, box & ship items, etc, but once you have a routine it gets easier.  Don't be discouraged, you will learn how to streamline your process as you go.

Find multiple sources of items to sell on Poshmark

It won't be long before all of your Poshmark items start flying out of your closet so you quickly find that you need multiple sources of items you can make a profit on.  Most people start with their own unused items.  From there you can check with friends and family, you'll be surprised how many people will have good items to sell that they're happy to give you.  If you really want to expand you can go to places like Goodwill outlets to find things super cheap, or buy return boxes from stores.  YouTube has some great videos about buying return boxes.

Brands Matter on Poshmark

In order to maximize your profit stick to brands that make the most money.   You'll learn quickly what brands are popular as you become more experienced, but if you're looking at an item wondering if it's worth buying, the best place to find out is on Poshmark.  Look up sold items for the item or brand you're researching and see how it's selling on Poshmark.  That will tell you whether or not you should bother with the item.

Take Good Pictures

Or I should say, take the best pictures you can and use the best one for your cover shot.  It's always good if you can show someone wearing the actual items as well.  The idea here is you want to display the item in it's best possible light and accurately represent what you're selling.  If the item you're selling has flaws in many case that's OK as long as it's clearly shown and in the description so the buyer knows everything up front.  People buy items with flaws, be transparent and honest about them.

List Items Daily or Weekly

If you can, list a few items each day instead of listing them all at once.  Active accounts tend to attract more people and sell more items so trickle them out to keep your closet active.
